Palm Sunday
The BCP makes no provision for the use of palms on this day, despite the Sunday’s subtitle. For those who wish to begin the service with a liturgy of the palms, the following may prove suitable:Invitatory: “Blessed is he that cometh” (BCP, p. 81); Celebrant’s greeting and opening prayer (Collect for Purity); Gospel of the Palms (BCP, Advent I, p. 96); Blessing of the Palms; Procession: “All glory, laud, and honour”; Holy Communion begins with the Collect, p. 150.
In some places, the colour of the Liturgy of the Palms is red and that of Holy Communion is violet.
