Shrovetide
Some parishes still keep Shrovetide. Shrovetide begins today and ends on Shrove Tuesday. This is a voluntary period of preparation for Lent characterised by an examination of conscience. It is not a period of abstinence or fasting. To reflect the more penitential mood of this period it is traditional that violet vestments (except on feasts) are worn, and the gradual Alleluia is omitted. Flowers are still used.Morning Prayer:

Holy Eucharist:

Evening Prayer:
Eve of Candlemas: Ps 26, 27; Ex 13:11-16; Gal 4:1-7; Coll 266
