All Saints’ Day - HD (White or Gold)

Hallowtide

Hallowtide begins on All Hallows’ Eve and ends on the Octave Day of All Saints. Hallowtide consists of All Hallows’ Eve, All Saints’ Day, All Souls’ Day, and the Octave Day of All Saints. The Collect for All Saints’ Day on p. 299 is repeated every day in the octave. The collect for All Souls’ Day on p. 301 may also be repeated on weekdays during the octave. It is preferable to wait until November 2nd and the days that follow to use this collect. In keeping with the traditional commemoration of the departed in Hallowtide the BCP suggests that the commemoration of Founders, Benefactors, and Missionaries or other worthies of the Church in Canada be kept on the Octave Day of All Saints or any other day of the octave. If the octave day is a Sunday then the commemoration should be kept at a second service that day. This collect may also be used on any weekday during the octave.

It is traditional to bless graveyards during Hallowtide.
